Category research
What researchers studied
Published work concerning light-care devices, red and near-infrared light, and related study formats. These sources give the wider category its context.
Design research and transparency
Independent research helps us ask better design questions about light sources, product formats, placement and care routines. These publications did not study NuGROWS products and do not establish their safety, efficacy, equivalence or expected outcomes.
Research-informed design
Good research can answer a specific question. We keep the study, the design conversation and any product-specific evidence in their proper places so you can see how each source is being used.
Not all evidence answers the same question
Category research
Published work concerning light-care devices, red and near-infrared light, and related study formats. These sources give the wider category its context.
Design translation
Research helps us ask practical questions about wavelength, coverage, proximity, format and routineโit does not decide the promise for a particular product.
Product-specific evidence
A claim about a specific NuGROWS product requires evidence that directly supports that product, use and market context.
Research themes
Format
Reviews of home-use light devices provide category background for bringing structured light-care rituals into everyday settings.
Coverage
Published helmet-format research helps inform questions about coverage and hands-free scalp-care design.
Placement
Comb-style research informs the design logic of parting hair to create a clearer path toward the scalp.
Source
Published parameter and mechanism literature provides background for wavelength selection and dual-wave product design.
Our reading method
A paper becomes useful when we understand its question, device, people and conditions before drawing a design lesson.
We first establish what the researchers actually set out to examine.
Wavelength, power, dose, session length, placement and product format can materially change relevance.
Study population, duration, comparison group and use conditions define how narrowly findings should be read.
We distinguish reported study outcomes from broader explanations or commercial conclusions.
Selected research references
These independent publications help NuGROWS ask better product-design questions. They did not study NuGROWS products and do not establish their safety, efficacy, equivalence or expected outcomes.
Systematic review and meta-analysis
Lueangarun S, Visutjindaporn P, Parcharoen Y, Jamparuang P, Tempark T. J Clin Aesthet Dermatol. 2021;14(11):E64โE75.
What researchers studiedSeven double-blind randomized controlled trials of FDA-cleared home-use low-level light and laser devices, including comb and helmet formats.
Design question it informsHow should device format, light-source choices and study conditions be separated when we compare product concepts?
Important boundaryThis review concerns devices and studies in the broader category, not a NuGROWS model. It does not establish a NuGROWS product outcome or an individual result.
Multicenter randomized controlled trial
Jimenez JJ et al. Am J Clin Dermatol. 2014;15(2):115โ127. DOI 10.1007/s40257-013-0060-6.
What researchers studiedRandomized, sham-controlled studies of specific HairMax LaserComb models in men and women with pattern hair loss.
Design question it informsHow can a comb or brush format support intentional placement while keeping the use routine clear?
Important boundaryThe study evaluated the device and participants described by its authors, not a NuGROWS product. Its findings cannot be transferred to NuGROWS by similarity alone.
24-week randomized controlled trial
Suchonwanit P, Chalermroj N, Khunkhet S. Lasers Med Sci. 2019;34(6):1107โ1114. DOI 10.1007/s10103-018-02699-9.
What researchers studiedA 24-week randomized, double-blind, sham-device trial of a specific helmet-format device in Thai men and women with androgenetic alopecia.
Design question it informsWhat coverage and hands-free design questions should be considered for a helmet or cap format?
Important boundaryThis trial studied Thai men and women and the device described in the publication, not a NuGROWS model. It is category background rather than direct NuGROWS product evidence.
Human study of visible red laser and LED sources
Lanzafame RJ et al. Lasers Surg Med. 2013;45(8):487โ495. DOI 10.1002/lsm.22173.
What researchers studiedA randomized controlled study of a specific helmet-like device combining visible red laser and LED sources in men.
Design question it informsHow should different light sources and their surrounding device parameters be documented rather than treated as interchangeable?
Important boundaryThe publication studied males and the specific sources and conditions reported by its authors, not a NuGROWS product. It does not prove a NuGROWS outcome.
Science review
Hamblin MR. J Biophotonics. 2016;9(11โ12):1122โ1124. DOI 10.1002/jbio.201670113.
What researchers studiedThe terminology, history and conceptual background of photobiomodulation and low-level laser therapy as a wider field.
Design question it informsWhat language helps us describe light-based design choices clearly without turning category science into a product promise?
Important boundaryThis is a review of the broader field, not a study of a NuGROWS device. It cannot be used as direct product evidence or as a promise of an individual outcome.
Light-parameter review
Zein R, Selting W, Hamblin MR. J Biomed Opt. 2018;23(12):120901. DOI 10.1117/1.JBO.23.12.120901.
What researchers studiedHow wavelength, irradiance, energy density, timing and other parameters interact across photobiomodulation literature.
Design question it informsWhich parameters must be considered together when defining and documenting a light-based product concept?
Important boundaryThis review addresses parameter complexity across the broader field, not the performance of a NuGROWS model. It does not establish efficacy, safety or equivalence for NuGROWS.
Evidence boundary
References in this library are provided as background for the broader light-care category and for NuGROWS design thinking. Unless explicitly identified as direct NuGROWS product research, they should not be interpreted as clinical proof of a NuGROWS product outcome.
NuGROWS products support personal wellness rituals and are not presented as substitutes for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
